Modified Montmorillonite as Drug Delivery Agent for Enhancing Antibiotic Therapy

نویسندگان

چکیده

The appealing properties of surfactant-intercalated Montmorillonites (Organo-montmorillonite, OMt) were successfully investigated to propose an effective drug delivery system for metronidazole (MNE) antibiotic therapy. This represents a serious pharmaceutical concern due the adverse reactions and low targeting ability MNE. non-ionic surfactant Tween 20 was used functionalize montmorillonite, thus accomplishing two-fold objective enhancing stability clay dispersion better controlling uptake release. adsorption process performed under different experimental conditions by constructing isotherms through high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) measurements. Powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurements characterize MNE/OMt compounds. gathered results revealed that occurs preferentially in interlayer, it is governed positive cooperative processes. presence drives into interlayer hampers onto external lamella faces. good performances prepared OMt controlled release MNE proved investigating profiles physiological conditions, simulating oral administration. Cytotoxicity demonstrated biocompatibility complexes evidenced that, specific nanodevices are more biocompatible than free drug.

Controlled drug delivery for glaucoma therapy using montmorillonite/Eudragit microspheres as an ion-exchange carrier

Background Glaucoma is a serious eye disease that can lead to loss of vision. Unfortunately, effective treatments are limited by poor bioavailability of antiglaucoma medicine due to short residence time on the preocular surface. Materials and methods To solve this, we successfully prepared novel controlled-release ion-exchange microparticles to deliver betaxolol hydrochloride (BH). Montmorill...

Surface-Modified Superparamagnetic Nanoparticles Fe3O4@PEG for Drug Delivery

In this work, we report on the synthesis of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles at room temperature using microemulsion template phase consisting of cyclohexane, water, CTAB as cationic surfactant and butanol as a cosurfactant. Surface modification have been carried out by using poly(ethyleneglycol) (PEG). The structure, morphology, and magnetic properties of the products were characteriz...

Lipid-Drug Conjugate for Enhancing Drug Delivery.

Lipid-drug conjugates (LDCs) are drug molecules that have been covalently modified with lipids. The conjugation of lipids to drug molecules increases lipophilicity and also changes other properties of drugs. The conjugates demonstrate several advantages including improved oral bioavailability, improved targeting to the lymphatic system, enhanced tumor targeting, and reduced toxicity. Based on t...

Psyllium as therapeutic and drug delivery agent.

There is no doubt that fibers, in particular viscous dietary fibers, have positive effects on human health, both in the prevention and in treatment of chronic diseases. Dietary fibers from psyllium have been used extensively both as pharmacological supplements, food ingredients, in processed food to aid weight control, to regulation of glucose control for diabetic patients and reducing serum li...
